DESCRIPTION

This project was for the expansion of the Stouffville Rail Corridor to add an additional track from Sheppard Avenue to Scarborough Junction.

This project is part of the overall “Regional Express Railway” for Metrolinx. This construction required that work be done within the live GO Transit tracked corridor. The job site stretches almost 8 km in length and includes multiple block retaining structures, three cast in place culvert extension sitting on a pile foundation over the West Highland Creek, noise wall installation including drilled caisson footings, all new track and signal construction, installing new underground Bell 360 fibre, dewatering as well as multiple pile and lagging walls. The 10 meter deep retaining walls were constructed in areas to control earth around the tracks as well as the residential properties surrounding the project.
